Brahmotsavam is a holy cleansing ceremony in honour of Lord Brahma (the Creator). during the nine days, deity is decorated with flowers and jewels and taken out on the streets; along the way people offer prayers. The Alangaram (decoration) is of Sri Venkatachalapathi Swamy, of the famous Tirupathi Temple, which is the second richest place of worship in the world, first being the Vatican. It was a jaw dropping dazzling decoration and with the warm glow of the spotlights, the image captures the decoration and the mood. I thought it was worth a share. The festival is taking place at the Sri Ananthapadmanabhaswamy Temple, Adyar, Chennai. To know more follow this link: http://www.ananthapadmanabhaswamytemple.org/ via http://500px.com/photo/100126761
